Hello,

There is a roll for the medal which has been published in book form. I'm sure a forum member must have a copy.

Regards,

Stewart

Have looked up your gt uncle in the published book of the Durbar medal roll and unfortunately he was not awarded one. The system of allocation was intended to allocate only six medals per regiment. This however was not the case with many more medals being allocated to regiments who were presented with new colours by the King. In total 4,171 medals were awarded to British units (905 to Officers and 3,266 to ORs).

In total the Royal Navy, Royal Marine Light Infantry and Royal Marine Artillary were awarded 131 medals (22 Officers and 109 OR's). Not possible to give you a list of them as the roll is orgainised alphabetically not by unit.

My Grandfather was there with the 1st Northumberland Fusiliers he too was unlucky. They got 115 (8 Officers and 107 ORs)

Any chance of looking up my grandfather - I have his RATA 1911 Coronation medal marked India and what looks very much like a Delhi Durbar medal ribbon but no medal. He was Sergeant Frederick J Baker of the 1st Battalion The Connaught Rangers. I know they had new colours presented so there were more medals available to the Battalion ?

Many thanks

Sorry he's not listed despite the Bn having new colours presented. Total for 1st Connaughts was 6 Officers and 113 ORs.

I believe from a previous thread on this subject that the Coronation and Durbar medals had the same, or very similar ribbons, though I'm no expert in this field.

Thanks for the info Punjab 612. Disappointing but the RATA medal suggests he was there at the time.
