Where are the lists keep, is it Ancestry or something similar, is there an index of the lists? And there is an index of the casualty lists posted to this thread which you can find at https://www.greatwarforum.org/topic/296431-casualty-lists-an-index/. That index contains all posts up to 26 September. I aim to produce an updated version of the index with all of the lists added since then in the coming few weeks. David. brianmorris547 Posted 25 November , 2022 Share Posted 25 November , 2022 This is obviously a HB list and because it is dated I will post it on here rather than the Partial Casualty List thread in Soldiers. From the date it must be close to HB 1741 posted by Dink on 03/09 this year (p 78). I responded with a couple of pages from the WDs of the Rifle Brigade showing casualties. Those same pages in the WD of 10 Rifle Brigade, 59 IB 20 Div, WO 95/2117 show that W Allen was wounded on 27/08/1916 and F Wilkin on 31/08/1916. The WD of 12 Rifle Brigade, 60 IB, 20 Div, WO 95/2121 show that A Conibear and J Fallon were wounded on 31/08/1916 and W Morris on 30/08/1916. Albert Conibear was evacuated on HS Asturias on 02/09/1916 ex 8 GH. He was wounded four times before being k in a in 1917.

HB1735 thanks details in the service record of 1561 Arthur Edward White. Many others on the list have service records that only record their admission to a French hospital with an HA prefix and include 16122 W ALLAN who was later missing in action, death presumed. brianmorris547 Posted 30 November , 2022 Share Posted 30 November , 2022 HC 1833 above showing REs names 83218 Ostick J. John was an original County Palatine RE 30 Div man and, like my gf, has no 1914-15 Star. There was another Ostick, George 83217 who went to France with 30 Div RE in November 1915. John has papers in WO 363. I have him on my system of the 200 plus CPRE men with no 1914-15 Stars. I have noted that he is named on HC 1833 and even have a copy of it. It seems strange that I did not post it, I have gone back through the thread but it is not there. An oversight by me. Brian

brianmorris547 Posted 5 December , 2022 Share Posted 5 December , 2022 (edited) C 927, HA 1643, HA 1703, HA 1800, HA 1819 and HB 1395. I have got my Loyal North Lancashire hat on at the moment, researching the wounded of the Actions on 09/08/1916 at Guillemont by 5 Bn and at The Intermediate Line on 11/08/1916 by 10 Bn. The casualties of 5 Bn are named in detail in the Bolton Journal 18/08/1916, it was the first major action of the Local Bn. It is 10 Bn that I am trying to identify, most of the men were from Bolton. There are two large Casualty Lists under Wounded - Loyal North Lancs in the Times 12/09/1916 and 14/09/1916. I have made a start on the names in the OCL 12/09. In February Dink posted HA 1703 York Record Office admissions into 22 GH on 12/08/1916. One of the names in the 12/09/1916 OCL is Briggs 13994, S. Stephen Briggs has papers to show that he was wounded on 11/08/1916 serving with 10 LNL. This is from his service record Courtesy TNA WO 363 (Ancestry 363 Bri 44367). It shows List numbers C 927, HA 1703 adm 22 GH 12/08/1916 and HA 1819 to Base Details 16/08/1916 Another name in the OCL is Burns 13582, P. Patrick Burns also has a Service Record showing wounded 11/08/1916 serving with 10 LNL and mentions List C 927. There are some other List numbers, including C 927, shown on the AF B 103 of another in the OCL, Blackledge 3311, H. Harry Blackledge was wounded on 09/08/1916 serving with 5 Bn. Courtesy TNA WO 363 (Ancestry 363 Bla 43750). HA 1643 adm 1 Can GH 10/08, HA 1800 to England ex 1 Can GH 17/08 and HB 1395 adm hospital Guildford 17/08/1916. brianmorris547 Posted 7 December , 2022 Share Posted 7 December , 2022 (edited) HA 1705 and HA 1937. This is the AF B 103 from the Service Record of Alexander Danson, 12784 Loyal North Lancs. He was in Gallipoli with 6 LNL in 1915 and France with 10 LNL from 1916. He was awarded the MM in 1917 and was k in a with 10 Bn on 30/09/1917. He is named in the Times OCL 12/09/1916 under Wounded-Loyal N Lancs. I am trying to identify the wounded of 10 LNL on 11/08/1916 on the Intermediate Line. His AF B 103 shows that he was one of them. I have found twelve others from 10 LNL who were admitted to 34 CCS with wounds on 11/08/1916. (MH 106/699 & 700). The AF B 103 shows List HA 1705 - adm 11 GH on 12/08/1916 and HA 1937 from 11 GH to 6 CD on 22/08/1916. Neither is on the index. I think it is a good idea to record where this lists are mentioned, even though we do not have the real thing.
