stiletto_33853 Posted 6 February , 2008 Author Share Posted 6 February , 2008 Rob, Got Savory as well. It is just a list stating "Nominal Roll of British Prisoners of War at Gardlegen brought home by Lieut. A.J. Brown, R.A.M.C. (S.R.), 30th June 1915." stiletto_33853 Posted 6 February , 2008 Author Share Posted 6 February , 2008 Hi Ian, A lot of my lists come from visits to kew and photographing soldiers records from the microfiche, but with a lot of the records now being on ancestry you can find them there. They do not appear in any order or there is no section with them on, they just appear randomly in a record. Andy
SteveE Posted 6 February , 2008 Share Posted 6 February , 2008 Ian As per Andy's reply really, all the lists I've added were casualty lists being reused by the Hamilton Record Office to record SWB details on the reverse, these were at NA, Kew. First time I'd seen anything other than 'official' forms and if it hadn't been for Andy posting this thread I probably wouldn't have paid too much attention to them. In hindsight there is a tremendous amount of information on them, especially for those researching the 'Corps' where Medal Rolls etc. don't tend to record the units very well. I haven't forgotten you and I'll sort out the A.O.C. men for you very shortly. Can you PM me an email address? Steve

I just cannot see the point of publishing three names from a list whose source is difficult to ascertain when anyone can go into almost any public library and read newspapers from the period and compile lists at the rate of several hundred an hour. Admittance lists for hospitals might be useful but I would rather be told where the list is kept and its reference John

stiletto_33853 Posted 30 November , 2008 Author Share Posted 30 November , 2008 John, In many of these lists it gives the nature of the injury, i.e. Gun shot wound, what illness, where they went to as in hospital, recuperation hospital, battalion etc. etc., and in my experience the newspapers can be wildy inaccurate. To date these lists have assisted several pals with interests in certain units and pals with their databases. Andy
