brummie60 Posted 27 April , 2007 Share Posted 27 April , 2007 CHEERS TOM TOM Hello Tom, How are you, I hope things are well for you. Subsequent to my enquiry about Captain Cecil Gilliat I am now in possession of three of the four medals that he was awarded and his death plaque. I would now love to find his British War Medal and the set of medals awarded to his twin brither who was also killed. When I finally retire, very soon, I will be researching him in detail. Best Wishes, Alan

The Guardroom Posted 21 August , 2007 Share Posted 21 August , 2007 Hi, Just seen your post and hoped you may be able to advise on a couple of areas I am trying to research. CCS - Gt Gt Grandfather buried at Grovetown Cemetery Nov 1916, after DOW at battle for Le Transloy at Lesboeufs. I am trying to understand from that area which CCS he would have ended up at or if you know the location of the CCS round Grovetown cemetery where he may have died from his wounds after being lugged back from the front. It may also be that he died at the CCS near the front at Lesbeoufs and then his body sent back to Grovetown for Burial as the nearest burial ground. Not sure so perhaps you may be able to advise. Thanks, Alan
museumtom Posted 21 August , 2007 Author Share Posted 21 August , 2007 I have no record of a CCS at Lesboeufs during that period but the 2/2nd London Casualty Clearing Station was stationed at Grovetown from 11-9-1916 to 4-4-1917. Perhaps this may give you a new lead? regards. Tom.
