medal entitlement

Hi,

Can anyone tell me what medals a serving soldier in the British army would have won

if he served between 1917 - 1919, but never went overseas?

Barry, I don't think he would be entitled to any. The only ones he might have been entitled to by the dates given would be BWM and VM, both of which required overseas service.

Hi Barry,

As Martin quite rightly states he would not have been awarded any medals as he would not have served overseas. The only award he may have been entitled to was the silver War Badge, but he would have had to have been discharged through wounds or illness. See this link:
