dorrie Posted 28 December , 2007 Share Posted 28 December , 2007 I am researching Private Arthur Clarke who was a member of the 12th Yorks and Lancs and has the number 12/73. Is this a mistake as it seems a strange number to have? Thanks Tim
John_Hartley Posted 28 December , 2007 Share Posted 28 December , 2007 Tim A number of Yorkshire regiments have this type of numbering amongst their early service battalion recruits. You've got the 73rd man to join the 12th Battalion - assuming everything was going to plan, that probably means he was 2 Platoon, "A" Company.
