Hi,

This is my first posting so bear with me...

I am looking for any information on the activities of the Devonshire Regt in 1918, particularly anyone with maps of the HH area. I know that my great uncle James' battn was in Italy until swiftly moved by train to north France when the German spring offensive was launched. I have copied the regt diary and James was serving as a runner at battn HQ when they were shelled and he was killed, aged 19.

My Nan died recently and I am planning to go to France and scatter some of her ashes where James is buried and was killed so maps would be very useful. His mates who came home told my Nan he was' blown to pieces' so I'd like to work out where his 'true' grave may be.

There also a bit of family mystery as to who had a memorial added to his headstone, if anyone can help with this. I believe that relatives had to ask to have messages added after the war.

Many thanks,

Stewart.
