leadders Posted 22 December , 2007 Share Posted 22 December , 2007 Hi, I was recently trying to find out about William Thomas Stevenson R.F.A i have now found out that he joined the 22nd North Midland Brigade R.F.A ( TF ) in 1915 and later went to 3/2nd Res Bn R.F.A and ended up with 62nd Res Bn R.F.A where can i find any information on the above units war diaries, photo's etc. also he seemed to have three regimental numbers 2617 / 1455 / 806401 why would this be? i can't find a medal card for any of the numbers. Thanks Again Dave
Chris_Baker Posted 22 December , 2007 Share Posted 22 December , 2007 The 22nd should actually read 2/2nd North Midland Brigade RFA. It was "related" to 3/2nd, which was a training/depot unit for supplying men to 1/2nd and 2/2nd. 2/2nd went overseas as part of the artillery of 59th (2nd North Midland) Division. If he was with 2/2nd at or later than February 1917, he will have campaign medals. But maybe he transferred to 3/2nd before that and did not go overseas. His 6-digit number is from the renumbering exercise of early 1917.
