i have had a bad day at work, so soon as i get in I get my mail off and see that I have recieved a reply from IWM about a pic they have of Forestier-Walker.

The pic reports to show Smith-Dorrien, FW and Colonel Kenna VC, so having had some problems previously with correct info on pics i have requested a date to help with validity. This is to be remebered that they have already told me they have FW on a pic as commander of 28th div at chanak in 1919. He was of course not in command of 28th so has to be wrong!!!

Anyway they can not date the pic unfortunatly but beleive it to possibly be 1917??????????????????????

After i have picked myself up off the floor laughing I tell my wife what the problem is....

Smith-Dorrien was in England ill i belive in 1917..FW was in charge of 27th div in Salonika......But more importantly though not funny, Colonel Kenna VC died at Gallipoli in 1915.

Priceless...

Ps I am not wishing to criticise the IWM the cataloguing of all the photos must be a thankless task, and anyway it made me smile.

Arm.
