OSCAR4 Posted 9 December , 2007 Share Posted 9 December , 2007 Dear all I have been advised to re-post here from the soldier forum as the experts on uniform frequent this area! I am trying to track down the unit or units in which my Grandfather served, Family rumor suggests he was involved with horses and possible was in served in Gallipoli. He has two good conduct stripes and what seems to be a divisional patch on his left shoulder. Earlier photo to follow Oscar
OSCAR4 Posted 9 December , 2007 Author Share Posted 9 December , 2007 Earlier photo suggest Royal Artillery as the cap badges are vaguely recognisable, there is also a shoulder tab on one of his mates but I cannot enhance the photo further yet. This scene is unusual as a mock fighting scene and suggests it is before they saw any real action as they may have not been so cheerful about it! Full name Frederick George Lawrence Born Caerleon, Monmouthshire, South Wales Born 1895 (he is standing on the left hand side) Grandad survived the war but didn't meet my Grandmother until the 30's so his early life is a mystery. Interestingly we have a copy of his birth certificate from 28th Nov 1918 which suggests he was back in Gwent at this time. I have some MIC copies from online but cannot be precise about which one is the right Lawrence
