The Queens

Hi all

I have a relative whose medal card says:

Jack Horrod, Queens R., Pte, 5778

Does Queens R. mean the Queen's (Royal West Surrey Regiment)?

It also says he entered France on the 13th October 1915 and was discharged 3/1/1918. My mother remembers him (Jack - real name John being her Uncle) always being ill when she was growing up. Not sure what he suffered from. Unfortunately he does not seem to be in the Ancestry 1st WW Pension records, which is surprising as he was definitely discharged.

Any help gratefully received

Richard
