Admin kenf48 Posted 30 January , 2010 Admin Share Posted 30 January , 2010 Just came across this resurrected thread and hope you can help. I am attempting a project on a 'lost' memorial. One of the soldiers recorded is below. Any further information you may have on him, especially the war diary, much appreciated Frank CARTER Private 18847 2nd Bn Coldstream Guards Died of Wounds 3 August 1917 Grave ref II. I. 32. Dozingheim Military Cemetery aged 19 years, born in Stainland the son of George Herbert (cloth fuller(?)) and Elizabeth Ann Carter Westgate Stainland. Enlisted in Halifax I'm guessing he was wounded around Pilkem and evacuted to the CCS where he succumbed to his wound. MIC shows BWM and Victory - no remarks. Thanks Ken

MartinThwaite Posted 22 March , 2010 Share Posted 22 March , 2010 Hello Im about to start sorting some rolls that show the battalion that a man served in with the Coldstream Guards. Its not a complete list and doesnt show if he moved battalion but may be of some use...seems to be mainly men who enlisted before 12/12/14 which is useful as (for whatever reason) they choose not to put battalion details on 1914 stars to the Coldstream post below if you want a look up and Ill see what I can find for you This list doesnt show officers though regards Coldstreamer Hello Coldstreamer, I know its a fair time down the line from your original post but I've only recently joined! My grandad 14870 LCpl Thomas TARMEY arrived in 1st Bn on 3 Oct 1915, from Windsor to Loos! He remained with 1st Bn until he was wounded in action at Ginchy on 15 Sep 1916. i'd be most grateful for any info re his Coy or even platoon. Regards, Martin

Hi David I haven't been on the forum for a while so just spotted this post.
