mysticalmac Posted 2 December , 2007 Share Posted 2 December , 2007 Is there any records kept of soldiers missing presumed dead and a letter/Telegram has been sent to the family, if there is such a record where would it be please Allan
per ardua per mare per terram Posted 2 December , 2007 Share Posted 2 December , 2007 I've seen them in officer's service records, but not in those for other ranks. Given the hundreds of thousands that were sent I'd doubt that they were generally kept. In contrast I have seen examples in naval files, in the case of Jutland, just a template. doogal Posted 3 December , 2007 Share Posted 3 December , 2007 Occasionally on the medal roll, the comments line will show "presumed dead" or "missing presumed dead"
