Browsing the CWGC website, came across this chap who was a Sherwood Foresters. Tragic

As you say, tragic, and he so nearly made it home. Formerly 2/12156 Notts. and Derby it seems he may have been the last man in the 46th Bn. to be kia whilst they were withdrawing down the Dvina, having pulled out of the Troitsa line on the 10th Sept.
