Peter Woodger Posted 29 November , 2007 Share Posted 29 November , 2007 I took this picture in Melcombe Regis Cemetery. Is this the correct badge for 24th London, known as The Queens or is this The Queen's Royal West Surry used in error. Peter
Steven Broomfield Posted 29 November , 2007 Share Posted 29 November , 2007 OK - the 24th were badged as Queen's, and latterly (I believe) became a fully-accredited Territorial Battalion of the regiment.
Greg Bloomfield Posted 29 November , 2007 Share Posted 29 November , 2007 Peter I have a picture of a SNCO of the 24th Londons, taken in dress uniform in 1914. The caption says that the badges and uniform are those of the West Surrey Regt. As they both have "Queens" in their titles there may have been some regimental affiliation. Peter Woodger Posted 29 November , 2007 Author Share Posted 29 November , 2007 Thank you both. I did not want to put it in my badge collection if it was in error. Peter
