Hello all,

I have just posted this info on the Soldiers section of the forum, but thought the image might be of interest here too.

"Attached is a photo of 1187 CSM Harold H Brown. He enlisted into the 23rd Battalion in 1911. His service details from his pension record on Ancestry (difficult to read as it's a poor scan) show him as promoted to WO2 and appointed CSM from 28-6-15. His overseas service is shown as 14-3-15 to 27-5-15. He was wounded in the head by shrapnel on 25-5-15, and was discharged as unfit for further service on 21-6-16.

He was transferred from 1/23rd to 3/23rd on 28-6-15. I assume that this photo was taken after he had recovered from his wound.

Does anyone have any further information on this NCO. I would like to know what the Battalion were doing on 25-5-15. All contributions gratefully received!"

Note the simplified pattern jacket with T23 titles, the WO2 Sleeve badges, the use of the Sam Browne and the Officer style cap CSM Brown is wearing.

If anyone has anything on this NCO I'd be pleased to hear from them.

Regards

Tocemma
