Hi folks, I was looking through my great grandfather's WW1 records and found that he went absent without leave from 23rd Jan 1917 to 10th Mar 1917. His records say that he was sentenced to 56 days F.P No1.

Is anyone here able to explain what this means? What is F.P. No1?

Many Thanks

FP No 1

My Grandad was tied to a gunwheel for returning late from leave, according to family legend.

Many thanks for the reply, fascinating how times have changed.
