David_Blanchard Posted 21 January , 2004 Share Posted 21 January , 2004 If anyone has a copy of Captain Stacke's 'Worcestershire Regiment in the Great War ' would they mind scanning page 384 for me, as I have somehow lost a copy of the photocopy I had of this page. If not, is there a copy of this book at the PRO in the library? Regards David
Alec McCudden Posted 21 January , 2004 Share Posted 21 January , 2004 David I can probably get you a photocopy from my local reference library in Worcester. However I don't have a scanner so I'll have to post it. E-mail me off-forum if you want me to get it. Alec
MartinWills Posted 22 January , 2004 Share Posted 22 January , 2004 Truly the finest (and heaviest) Regimental History of all. If you are not worried about the small uncaptioned picture the rest of the text is as follows: END OF THE GERMAN OFFENSIVE .... vigour of the German advance, the slender Allied forces had opposed that advance with astonishing courage, had checked it repeatedly, and had finally brought it to a standstill before any decisive result had been obtained. Once again, as in Picardy and in Flanders, the calculations of the enemy's Higher Command had been baffled by the dogged resistance of the soldiers of France and England. David_Blanchard Posted 22 January , 2004 Author Share Posted 22 January , 2004 Thanks Martin. I think you are right in your assessment, a great book, a great draught excluder!
