I can't find which unit was based at the Victoria Drill Hall in Newmarket in 1914. It doesn't seem to be the Suffolk Regiment, so was it yeomanry? There is a little equestrian knowledge in the area, so maybe...

"H" Company 5th Suffolks was based at Newmarket, with a drill station at Mildenhall. Nearest Suffolk Hussars stationss at Bury St Edmunds and Sudbury.
