john.cooke1 Posted 24 November , 2007 Share Posted 24 November , 2007 Trying to research Grandfather of my wife. I have lots of papers - Character Certificate, Discharge Papers, Medals, Regiment, Battalion & Army no. but can find no record of him in National Archives. Can anyone point me in right direction. Arthur Joseph Marshall Private 15364 Served with 4th Bat. Royal Fusiliers (Sometimes recorded as L/15364). Injured on 23.08.1914 at Mons. Discharged as 'Unfit' 14 June 1915 - With one leg missing not surprising !! Was initially looked after by Nuns after the battle but eventually handed over to the Germans as injuries severe & gangrene had set in. Germans amputated his leg. Not sure how & when he returned to England but discharged 14.06.1915. Three medals, all struck with his name & number. Cheers
jay dubaya Posted 24 November , 2007 Share Posted 24 November , 2007 Hi Phil, Here's Arthurs MIC at the NA (clickety click), it'll cost you £3.50 to download the file but I imagine that there is plenty of information on it, good luck, cheers, Jon
