sotonmate Posted 24 November , 2007 Share Posted 24 November , 2007 Steve The nearest match to his name in Officer's files at Kew is WO339/23625 Lt A J Arnold. No matches on more than 1 initial in WO374. Best wishes Sotonmate

Michael Posted 25 November , 2007 Share Posted 25 November , 2007 Steve There were 3 Arnolds in the medal rolls; Captain Victor, killed in action 15/1/1917; Second Lieutenant Hugo Cholmondeley, died of wounds 12/6/1917; and Lieutenant VD who survived attached to the Indian Army. Only officers who claimed medals appear on the rolls, so just because he doesn't appear doesn't necessarily mean he didn't go overseas. I've checked the Regimental History index and he isn't in there. I've also checked through samples of the army list each year from 1914 to 1920 and drawn a blank .... so not much help I'm afraid Mick
