bts1970 Posted 23 November , 2007 Share Posted 23 November , 2007 Evening all 9846 Private REGINALD JEFFERIES. 1st Battalion, Wiltshire Regiment. Enlisted in Swindon. Killed in action on the 24th October 1914. Son of Albert Edward and Charlotte Jefferies of Clarden Lane. Henry has no known grave. Remembered on LE TOURET MEMORIAL, Panel 33/34. This lad is the first of those listed on the memorial to die in the Great War. Can any forum members give me any more details .......... 1. I take it he would of been a "Professional" soldier at the outbreak of War being 1st Battalion & part of the origional BEF force ?????. 2.
