Forum Member,Graham Stewart and I are discussing the possible reason for the renumbering of TF Soldier so can I please enlist your assistance.

The 1/8th Royal Scots Battalion War Diary records that the above Officer transferred from the Battalion to the Machine Gun Corps on 19 June 1916.

The War Diary records drafts of Officers and men received and losses as a result of death, wounding, sickness but does rarely records transfers of Men to other Units.

Major McEwa/en as a Captain appears to have been Officer in charge of the Battalion Maxim Gun Section when it went to France in 1914.

The question.

When he transferred to the MGC in 1916 would he have taken his Section with him?

TIA

George
