Hi All

I am sorry for my ignorance, but I was wondering if someone could enlighten me on what rank in the army 2 stripes on the arm was ??

Kind Regards

It depends on the stripes and where on which arm. They are not necessarily rank stripes.

- 2 chevrons pointing down on mid upper arms (both) = Corporal.

- 2 chevrons pointing up on lower left sleeve = 5 years good conduct.

- 2 short vertical stripes on cuff of left sleeve = wounded twice.

- 2 small chevrons on cuff of right sleeve = 2 years overseas service.

Thanks Steve

That is brilliant !!! I am trying to find a Service Number for my Grandmothers Cousin and this helps me narrow down the search a lot !!! Thank you very much.
