Presumably 40th Territorial Reserve Battalion?

Anyone know anything about this?

It is indeed Cameron Highlanders. A relative of my decorator who is downstairs atm. Thinking the Bill may be easier on the eye if I find some info for him.

Heres what I have on him so far

Peter R Fullerton, Private, S/31225

Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders

5th Battalion

Born Forfar, Forfarshire

Enlisted Perth, Perthshire

Residence Forfar

Died 04 October 1918

Died of Wounds

France & Flanders

Formerly TR/1/9428, 40th T.R. Battn

as far as I can see then he would have enlisted in the Camerons 8th Reserve, which was then renamed 40th T.R.

or have been conscripted straight into the 40th T.R. I think I probably need to get him to cough up £3.50 to find out.

SDGW says enlisted. Would it say that if he was conscripted?

SDGW does not distinguish between voluntary enlistments and conscriptions. The Training Reserve was only set up in September 1916, not long into the conscription period, so if he enlisted direct into 40 TR, rather than joining it on its transfer from being 8/Cam H, it is very likely that he was a conscript, but he might have been a Derby Scheme volunteer.
