chrisbrown43 Posted 19 November , 2007 Share Posted 19 November , 2007 firstly hello to all. I have been able to download the service records of my great grandfather George Brown...Royal Engineers...Born Hogsthorpe Lincs.......it appears that during the conflict he suffered trench fever and at discharge he had a 30% disability!! Now because of this he recieved a conditional pension....but.....have not been able to find a record on ancestry as to his pension record?? Am I expected to be able to find one? Or because I have found his service record amongst the "burnt records" will I not be lucky in finding a pension record? Am feeling a bit of a dork at this time ......... not really sure which way to turn on this matter! Chris.
Terry Denham Posted 19 November , 2007 Share Posted 19 November , 2007 The so called 'pension' records are only a sample taken from such records which survived and so it is not unusual for you to be unable to find a particular man. They are not complete.
chrisbrown43 Posted 19 November , 2007 Author Share Posted 19 November , 2007 Terry.....many thanks for your reply. Was beginning to think that I was doing something dratically wrong. Now I know that it wasn't anything I was doing my mind is now laid at rest and for now I shal have to be pleased with what I have already found and consider myself lucky to have a full set of documents to peruse. Chris_Baker Posted 19 November , 2007 Share Posted 19 November , 2007 Having said that, it is not unknown for a man to appear in both!
