Looking for info on my father's namesake.

I know he was a Canadian WWI pilot. Beleived to be buried near Gosport, England

I have been told (not Substantiated) that he was killed when his plane crashed shortly after he obtained his wings.

Terry,

I have a plaque to a Canadian named to George S Bateman (RFC Lieutenant). The CWGC record him as George Simpson Bateman, however, his attestation papers show only George S Bateman.

Wondering if same person.

George Simpsson Bateman's attestation papers are here: http://www.collectionscanada.ca/archiviane...tigr2qbjfk1rvv1

and his death is commemorated here: http://www.vac-acc.gc.ca/remembers/sub.cfm...asualty=3055406

and the CWGC record is here: http://www.cwgc.org/search/casualty_detail...asualty=3055406

These records clearly all refer to the same man. If you wish, you can order his complete service record from Library and Archives Canada.
