Guest CanadaPhil Posted 20 January , 2004 Posted 20 January , 2004 Hello, I am researching the service of a Sapper (bricklayer) who is believed to have joined a Field Company in 1915 that was attached to the 61st (South Midland) Division. The 61st was a Territorial Division that did not embark for France until May 1916. Can anyone provide me with some insight as to the typical length and possibe location of recruit training for the Royal Engineers during this period? Furthermore; once overseas, how much home leave was the average soldier (private) granted each year? Thanks, Phil
