PFF Posted 17 November , 2007 Share Posted 17 November , 2007 On the Western Front were there any German Dragoon/Hussars units? If yes-what were the Regimental Badges?
JMcCulloch Posted 20 November , 2007 Share Posted 20 November , 2007 ?! There were lots of hussars on the western front. However, most did not wear regimental badges like the British. they had national/unit badges on their helmets (Guards had a star device about the state emblem). Landwehr/Landsturm troops wore collar numbers denoting their area/unit. Apart from that only the national/state cockades were worn on the pork pie hats. There were a few individual unit badges worn on caps here and there-mostly alpine units and special regiments granted exceptional privileges (like the deaths head for Brunswick units). PFF Posted 20 November , 2007 Author Share Posted 20 November , 2007 Thanks-I once saw a picture of a German Cavalry badge found in Belgium-it was a "Hussar" basdge of a cavalryman on horseback-wonder what unit it was.
