Remembered Today:

Surrey Recruitment Registers

I'm thinking it's about time I acquired this CD for my research as it seems an essential resource and great value at the price, but I have a couple of questions. Hopefully someone with a copy can provide the answers.

I believe it comes with both pdfs and raw data for searching?

Is it possible to undertake a regimental number search on the Surrey Regiment to find blocks who were transferred to other regiments.

How many 23rd Londons are included in the data?

Thanks in advance,

Matthew

I have this CD so if you only want a "few" then I cna do them for you.

If you want to keep returning to them or have a large number to do then the CD is worth it.

The search facility is dependant on the name & this is the only criteria you can use. Regimental numbers are not included.

As they are attestation records they sometimes give the attestation number. if you click here for my entries on a previous thread it will give you an example of the sort of information you can glean from them.

Hope that helps

Andy and Steve,

Thanks for your comments and offers.

I think I should probably just buy the cd and support the effort. Sounds like I'm going to have some fun trying to identify East and West Surrey transferees then.

Best regards,

Matthew
