Linda,

Any chance of you producing a bigger photo for us to look at, as there's nothing to help note his unit in it's current size?

Graham.

Linda,

Definately Royal Marines, but because of the dark colour to the photo, can't make out if he's Royal Marine Light Infantry, who wore scarlet tunics or Royal Marine Artillery, who wore dark blue tunics. Whoever he is though has been in a couple of years as he's wearing a good conduct badge(the inverted chevron) on his lower left cuff indicating two years service with a clean conduct sheet.

Graham.

Eric

Thanks for the information.

Hopefully now, thanks to you and Graham i am starting to build a picture on Augustine.

He was born 1884, this pic was pre1902 so he would of been 16 when he joined the Royal Marines.

It looks like he left the Marines at some point,as in 1912 he sailed to New York with the Merchant Navy.

I recieved his Marriage cert today. He was married in 1920 kent. Occupation R M L I.

I think he must of gone back into the Marines when the War broke out.

Thanks for your help.

Linda
