Chris_Baker Posted 5 November , 2007 Share Posted 5 November , 2007 Can anyone tell me anything about this unit? I have a hunch that it was raised in Manchester and it certainly arrived in France in August 1915, coming under 3rd Division. Aside from that, all info sought. MelPack Posted 5 November , 2007 Share Posted 5 November , 2007 Chris Geoff's search engine throws up 22 casualties for the 142nd Field Ambulance and there does not appear to be A Manchester connection: http://www.hut-six.co.uk/cgi-bin/sx2.php?v...=1&pageno=1 regards Mel
Ron Clifton Posted 6 November , 2007 Share Posted 6 November , 2007 Hello Chris Becke confirms the details you have. It replaced 9th FA which went to the Guards Division, but there is no other indication as to where it was raised. You may find more in its War Diary, in WO95/1408. Cheers Ron
Chris_Baker Posted 7 November , 2007 Author Share Posted 7 November , 2007 Thanks, both. The war diary it will have to be - but any info about its raising would be helpful.
BJanman Posted 7 November , 2007 Share Posted 7 November , 2007 The Unit was raised in the 41st Division and joined the 3rd Division in the BEF on the 11th August 1915. Hope this helps Barbara
