My Great Uncle George Martin. retired on pension after 21 years sevice. 11 in India. I have all his service History 13 pages. His retirement started on the 12th of January 1914. His last posting was at 26H and his discharge was at Farnham (I think). I am sure that he would be the first to volunteer or at least be called up.

From January 1914 I know nothing more about him except that he gave my Father a good character reference for his application for a commision. I cannot find him in the medal rolls. But I have found a couple of might be's in the London Gazette. 19 nov 1914 page 9519 and 27 Feb 1917 page 2024.

Can any one surgest where I might go from here for more information.

thank you very much for the reply. No, I am not able to get to Kew on my own but am trying to get my son to take me one day. I also want to look for my father's records as well. I have down loaded his medal card. pincher475
