Guest newworldmember Posted 17 January , 2004 Share Posted 17 January , 2004 Can someone please explain to me how many rounds were loaded into each magazine (clip) for the Enfield carried by the BEF in 1914? Some writers indicate the magazine held eight bullets while others maintain it held ten. I also would like to know if this rifle provided a flat tragectory for up to 600 yards, as I've seen claimed, or whether the distance was more or less than that. Thanks in advance for any help received. Cory Kilvert
CROONAERT Posted 17 January , 2004 Share Posted 17 January , 2004 Cory. You can get 2 chargers of 5 rounds into a Lee Enfield magazine (ie. 10 rounds). I've fired a No.4 Lee Enfield with 10 in the magazine and one in the breech (in other words the loaded and cocked rifle contained 11 rounds) but had to put on the magazine after chambering the first round (usually the magazine is loaded ,via the chargers, from the top without removing the mag, but can be hand loaded also).
