Am trying to trace a man off the village war memorial

Henry (Harry) Matthews Private 13168 6th Btn Dorsetshire Regiment KIA 10:07:1916 Buried Boulogne Eastern Cemetery

Having checked census returns (1881 & 1901) I have now have two possible families in or near the village BUT to clinch it I need Henry's date of birth ....is it possible that this is recorded by the army somewhere?

Also: Matthews or Mathews the census enumerators tend to swop spellings!!

Hi Edorc,

Dont know if it helps but SDGW records him as being born in Marnhull, Dorset, Enlisted Dorchester and was a resident of Chetnole.
