Remembered Today:

Wiltshire men in Irish Regiments

The inference from press reports is that the Wiltshire men were compulsorily transferred (surviving service records just state Posted or Transferred) but would be allowed to transfer back to the county regiment at some unspecified stage. This of course never happened - even when medically evacuated to UK they tended to be posted to other regiments. Two of the Malmesbury men voluntarily transferred after Gallipoli from 6 RMF to the Machine Gun Corps (Liddington and Pinnell's records are still available).

May I suggest that anyone interested in recruitment, including Wiltshire men, to the 10th (Irish) Division read Neither Unionist nor Nationalist - The 10th (Irish) Division in the Great War from Irish Academic Press. Details below (with review from Irish Times).
