Angular Posted 22 October , 2007 Share Posted 22 October , 2007 I have a medal card for a Walter Gibson, who served in the Duke of Lancaster's Own Yeomanry (Pte. 110612), then transferred to the Manchesters (Pte 245640), then joined the RAF (319958). Does anyone have any idea how I can find out where he was born? If he is related to me, he would probably have joined B Sqn DLOY, as they were from Bolton, and my relative lived in Bolton, although he was born in Blackburn in 1884. Thanks for any help you can give!

Angular Posted 22 October , 2007 Author Share Posted 22 October , 2007 Paul, Those are the details of my ancestor, right enough. My problem is that Henry had two families, one with Annie, Walter, Lilian, Emeline and Harry, and another after his first wife died. I'm descended from his third son, Arthur. We never heard anything about the first family. Finding info on-line, post-1901, is tricky. My assumption is that the lads died in WW1 and the girls either married or remained spinsters. I was trying to find if Walter and Harry did any war service, and think that the Walter who joined the DLOY might be Henry's son. If I could find out if Pte. Walter Gibson was born in Blackburn in 1884, I would be a bit closer.
