Paul Reed Posted 20 October , 2007 Share Posted 20 October , 2007 This looks to be on or close to the site of the Tenderloin - an underground ADS constructed, from memory, in the spring of 1916, and was one of the main evacuation routes of wounded on 1st July for 29th Division and on 13th November for 51st Division; and of course many other times too. There used to be a copse on this site, with dugout and trench remains within, which disappeared c.1990.
auchonvillerssomme Posted 20 October , 2007 Author Share Posted 20 October , 2007 It runs adjacent to Tenderloin St (Tender Lane St on later map). Youre right about there being more to see previously, once found a complete but mangled helmet and several sets of gas mask lenses there but never associated the area with the ADS.
