Dear all,

I am researching Driver W R Conibear of the above unit. He was KIA on 4th June 1917 and buried at the Railway Dugouts Burial Ground.

Has anyone any information which will enable me to learn a little more about what action he might have been involved in at the time of his death?

Many thanks,

Derrick Parsons

The 106th Brigade spent the entire war with the 24th Division, which landed in France on 4 September 1915 and remained on the Western Front until the Armistice.

On 4 June 1917, the 24th Division was making preparations for the battle of Messines, which officially began on 7 June. If you can get to the National Archives at Kew, you may want to consult the war diary for the unit.
