trenchtrotter Posted 7 October , 2007 Share Posted 7 October , 2007 Looks to be Royal Engineers to me. Wearing the utility tunic without pleats etc, early war 1915/6? Regards TT
pbrydon Posted 7 October , 2007 Share Posted 7 October , 2007 I agree it could be the Royal Engineers. The Paddington Rifles ( 10th County of London Bn,The London Regt ) cap badge was very similar in shape to the R.E.s cap badge with crossed swords and a ( mural ?) crown in the centre. The Paddington Rifles were ,I understand, disbanded in 1912 because of falling numbers so that appears to let rule that unit out. The shoulder title could be R.E. P.B. Steven Broomfield Posted 7 October , 2007 Share Posted 7 October , 2007 I'd go with RE. The Paddington Rifles transmogrified into the 10th Battalion (Hackney), I believe.
