BRitish War medal and the Victory Medal

Hello out there!

I was wondering if any one can help me in a bit of research.

I recently purchased the above medals as a replacement for the ones my Granddad sold years ago

but i noticed that on the medals they have some inscriptions on them and i was wondering if anyone can help me to find out if these poor men died in the war. Sorry if its a daft question but i am a complete beginner in all this.

On the Victory Medal the inscription is L-5548 DVR F. Hollick R.A.

And on the British War Medal is 8348T.S A.M.Dent TR. R.N.R.

Appreciate any help in this matter.

Hi Maryanne, Checked my Soldiers Died disc and the CWGC site and neither of the names appear, so looks like they survived. Regards Ralph.

Maryanne, Have you tried posting your g/dads details (number , regiment etc) on this site his medals may strike a cord with one of the forum members, you never know. Ralph.

Never thought of that do you think that they would have the medals???
