Hi, I have just acquired a WW1 swagger stick with the brass top marked 74th Canadian Overseas within a Maple Leaf, I would really like to find out more about this Battalion? so I can have a little history behind it, I hope one or more of our members might be able to help me out on this one, Regards John

Thanks Michael, thats interesting, I wonder at what point they were broken up, as soon as they landed in France or months later?

The 74th never went to France. They were broken up in England.

John,

I actually have the Nominal Roll of the 74th Bn,C.E.F., which sailed from Halifax on the 29th March 1916 aboard the S.S. "Empress of Britain". The Battalions "Reinforcement Draft" Nominal Roll is also included and it sailed from Montreal on the 1st October 1915 aboard the S.S. "Scandanavian".

Graham.
