Hello Shelly

I found that two more men, as well as your relative, died on HMS IVY that same day:

MANN, Adam Ord. Seaman RN J.79193 HMS Ivy 20.1.20

CORBETT, G. E. Ordinary Seaman RN SS.9760 HMS Ivy 20.1.20

WOODCOCK, F. C. AB RN J, 21383 HMS Ivy 20.1.20

Cheers Ron

Shelly, welcome aboard.

The Admiralty death records for the 3 men that died on 20/1/20 show that they drowned in a boat accident.

Incidentally, the Ivy was sold in February 1920.

Best wishes

David

Shelley, Admiralty death records were not official certificates, but recordings of events on cards or in ledgers.

However, if want to see a record you can follow per a's advice above.

Best wishes

David

Shelly,

I don't know if this was the sort of photo which you had in mind

However, I was in Haifa at the weekend and visited the War Cemetery there

The three men from HMS Ivy lie beneath a palm tree next to the Cross of Sacrifice

In the photograph your great uncle's grave is the second one in the second row

His two shipmates are one to his right and the other just ahead of him

best regards

Michael

The long arm of the forum strikes again - brilliant, Michael. Shelley hasn't visited the forum since her last post on 30 September, so perhaps you should send her a PM and hope she has opted to receive e-mail notification of new messages.
