pilgrim Posted 15 January , 2003 Share Posted 15 January , 2003 Hello All. I'm new to site and forum but hope I,m going about it right! Looking for any info, details, leads, contacts, concerning Gouzeacourt Wood. My grandfather was, I believe, wounded here, shot through the neck either attacking German trenches/postions or by Germans attacking the British line of defence. I have tried the web in general but find this battle mostly covered by American sites. Can any one shed light on this battle...especially what regiments were involved.Grandad served with both the 2nd Batt' R Warks Reg and then 2/4 and 5th Batts, R Berks. Thanx Ray
Paul Reed Posted 16 January , 2003 Share Posted 16 January , 2003 Have a look at The Wardrobe website, which is the regimental site of the Royal Berkshire Regiment: http://www.thewardrobe.org.uk/main.php3 They have all the battalion War Diaries on-line, which you can view and print off. They are also working on a project about the regiment in WW1 and if you email them they might be able to help further. There is a 'Battleground Europe' title by Bill Mitchinson which covers this area, but I forget which one. Try the Pen & Sword website: http://www.pen-and-sword.co.uk/
Graham-McAdam Posted 18 January , 2003 Share Posted 18 January , 2003 Mitchinson's "Villers-Plouich" seems to be the one with a big section about Gouzeaucourt.
