Paul Reed Posted 15 January , 2003 Share Posted 15 January , 2003 There's a very brief history of it on my site at: http://battlefields1418.50megs.com/regular...visions_pt3.htm And of course an ORBAT here on Chris' site, but aside from that there are no printed sources - only the war diaries at Kew and mentions in the Official History. Annette Burgoyne Posted 16 January , 2003 Share Posted 16 January , 2003 Hi Kerry The 27th Div. withdraw from Shrewsbury Wood and took up a line along Sanctuary Wood during night of 3rd/4th May 1915. I have found no accouts of any major attacks in Shrewsbury Wood during 2nd Ypres, most of 27th Div.'s fighting in the April was done by its reserve battalions, who were sent to help 28th Div. After the withdrawal its left flank was involved in fighting north of Menin Road. You would think that Shrewsbury Wood would have a connection to the Shropshire Regt. but I have found no K.S.L.I. units in this wood in 1914. Does anyone know when the wood was given the name, and by who. Regards Annette
