Diary of Capt Frank Hurley

Thanks Halder - an interesting link.

I particularly like the account of him having to nip over to England to ensure he got paid by Shackleton!

I must admit when I first clicked on the link I thought it was merely the index, but the diary has indeed been scanned. Hurley's account features regularly in Peter Barton's book. Not only was he a first-rate photographer, but he was also an astute battlefield observer.

This is my first post so don't bite my head off please!!!!

Saw an excellent exhibition of Frank Hurley's pictures and life story in the museum at Zonnebeke this August, amazing and not a little scary as well.

Hi Halder

What Peter Barton book are you referring to?

Also - I remember a website listing the fate of Shacklton's men in the War - does anyone have a link?

Thanks for the link, Halder.

Does anyone know if Hurley records visiting Fromelles at any time? Does he comment on Pheasant Wood? If so at what page/date in his diary?
