I found a couple of Irish shoulder titles in among a bunch of items I bought in a junk store they are "DOWN" and "CORK" is this a complete title or is it a part of a title.

Yours Aye Rob.

See Ray Westlakes book Collecting metal shoulder titles, he lists CORK under Royal Garrison Artillery Militia and says the title was worn with a seperate RGA above. He dosnt list DOWN, but I think this may be a similar title.

Rob

DOWN in a curve was worn by the 13th (1st County Down) Batt, Royal Irish Rifles - raised 1914 disanded 1918.

CORK in a curve was worn by the Cork RGA Militia with a separate straight RGA above it

Dave and Pbrydon, thanks for the information I had a felling they were part titles, but the "DOWN" title is straight and it is very heavy, it is not stamped out, it is single letters with a bar top and bottom and the letters soldered on, with no solder showing on the edges, very well made. I wish I knew how to attach an image it would make it a lot easier.

Thanks Again Yours Aye Rob.
