Hi

Could anyone tell me the Btn these # would belong to?We have just moved and all my books are pack away for awhile as the house is alot smaller.

414568 William Downs join 1915 Halifax NS.

Dave, Downs went into the 40th Battalion, enlisted March 1915 New Glasgow. A big strapping 5'11" miner.

Thanks for the help.It`s my wifes GGrandfather.Do you know if the 40th was a res btn?Or did they see alot of action.The picture we have he is a Sgt.

Dave, it looks like 40th was absorbed by 26th Reserve, who were absorbed by 17th Reserve. 17th was NS affiliated; reinforced 25th (5th Brigade), 85th (12th Brigade), and RCRs (7th Brigade) - all saw lots of action.

Ordering his service records from NAC would tell you the the complete story.
