My Bristol roll of Honour has some 4,600 names on it.I have researched them all, through G.W.G.C. & SOLDIERS THAT DIED. They are on a date-base that I have made up.Probably not the best in the world, but ,never-the-less they are all there.I also have, as part of the same, original, document a list of those who gained awards,in ww1,both civilians and military.I am not so good at getting the material onto disk, but my son is a computer graduate, and knows how to do it.When I can corner him into showing me how to make the said disks, would you like a copy? It is also my intention to let Chris Baker have a copy to put on THE LONG LONG TRAIL. If he thinks it is goodenough and appropiate.

I do have other material from a lot of the East Bristol churches. This I will place on this thread as and when.

I dont know if this is appropiate, but perhaps this thread might become the basis of a sub-site on the long long trail.

My w-mail address is on the site information about me.Feel free to get in touch.

CHEERS FOR NOW.

JOHN FLOOK.

Hi Memorialhunter.

Great piece of work the lists!

I have just been looking through the Stoke on Trent area ones (and the links) to see if any of 'the family' turn up but was surprisingly unsuccessful - I'm pretty sure some of us must have died in the last century! I have a 1901 census that lists 17 Busby's as living in Longton, I know there were others in Fenton and Normacot as well at this time. (The neighbouring Parishes for those of you not from N Staffs!). I also know that at least one, Edgar Percy Busby died in 1918 (Kings Liverpool Regt) and another, Vincent Charles Busby in 1944 (Sth Staffs Rgt).

Knowing how many of the family should be listed on memorials, gravestones etc and aren't just makes you realise how difficult tracing ancestors, relatives etc can be and just how much of a help it is when good people like yourself do so much work and put it in the public domain. Your work is appreciated!

Cherers! Alan

Hi memorialhunter,

Thomas F Wootton died 2.7.1917 aged 41. He was a Private in the 1st Battalion Northumberland Fusiliers and is recorded on the Lichfield Memorial, which I have researched.

The son of William and Mary from Wade Street, he was born in Lichfield. He moved to work in Barton, though I do not know his trade and enlisted through the Lord Derby Scheme

Hope it helps

Hi memorialhunter,

I transcribe for the LAN OPC, and I am also doing some work on tracing the History of the local Village, plus tracing my own family tree, which is now into the Parish Register stage this takes up a lot of time and energy. I do not have any left to take on another role. Sorry.
