chrisharley9 Posted 24 July , 2007 Share Posted 24 July , 2007 This lad is mentioned on the Eastbourne Central Military Hospital memorial as dying on 4th Dec 1918 - I ordered the only matching DC from Eaastbourne district that matched for that quarter & I have a problem - the DC is for a John Thomas however there is no mention of him being a soldier & indeed there is no Manchester connection at all - CWGC has no one that matches that details - please can anyone shed any light Chris
Terry Denham Posted 24 July , 2007 Share Posted 24 July , 2007 He could have been discharged before death and died as a civilian - hence no military details. Who are the names on the memorial? Are they patients, staff etc?
chrisharley9 Posted 24 July , 2007 Author Share Posted 24 July , 2007 Terry all the others on the memorial are serving soldiers with one exception (a VAD nurse) & the memorial states that they died at the hospital However the DC shows that he died at Tideswell Road Eastbourne So I think Im going to have to get my thinking cap on Chris
